A man was allegedly killed by his elder brother in the Akand Kishori area of New Town over a dispute involving mangoes. According to police, the incident occurred when Sushanta Roy plucked mangoes from a tree located on a plot of land owned by his elder brother, Prashanta Roy. This led to a verbal altercation between the two siblings, which escalated quickly.
During the quarrel, Prashanta Roy reportedly attacked his younger brother with a heavy object, striking him on the head. Sushanta collapsed at the scene. Family members rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police from the Techno City police station arrived at the location shortly after being alerted and detained Prashanta Roy. As of now, no formal written complaint has been filed by the family. However, police have initiated an investigation based on the preliminary information and eyewitness accounts.
